“Glimmer of Things to Come”

Glimmer Of Things To Come is a visionary exhibition that explores the unlimited possibilities and inevitable challenges of the future through the lens of what Is commonly known as Afrofuturism. Afrofuturism is considered to be a cultural movement that combines elements of science fiction, fantasy, history, and African diaspora to imagine alternative realities and futures for people of African descent. Artist Ren Dillard uses various media, such as oil painting, mixed media collage, and ancient gilding techniques, to create immersive and interactive artworks that invite the viewers to question their assumptions and expectations about where the world is headed. Dillard envisions the potential scenarios and outcomes of the future for the African diaspora, ranging from utopian to dystopian. He also challenges the viewers to imagine their own roles and responsibilities in shaping the future. Glimmer Of Things To Come is more than just an exhibition; it is a conversation starter, a provocation, and a call to action. It invites the viewers to engage with the artworks and with each other, to share their perspectives and experiences, and to participate in the creation of a more inclusive and equitable future.
